Ms. Venita L. Jones

Venita L. Jones is a Louisiana native who leads with a passion for empowering students and serving her community. She received her undergraduate degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge and went on to receive her master’s in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington.
She started her educational career at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary as a math and social studies teacher and ended her teaching career at L. G. Pinkston High School. Her last classroom is in the same building where Garcia West Dallas STEM is located today.
Venita began her principalship journey at Leila P. Cowart Elementary and then transitioned to L. V. Stockard Middle School where she served as assistant principal for four years. Her leadership focus at Stockard has been providing quality instruction and strengthening parent and community engagement helping to lead and transform the campus to a “B” rating and a distinction in math. Stockard is also ranked number 2 in school effectiveness amongst all comprehensive middle schools in Dallas ISD. As the current principal resident at Hector P. Garcia Middle School, she leads the math, science, and technology departments.
She has spent her career dedicated to the Oak Cliff and West Dallas communities, showing a deep commitment to both academic excellence and student well-being. She brings a strong background in math and science, having served as both a teacher and instructional leader in Dallas ISD, where she coached and developed teachers to improve instruction across STEM subjects. Her experience in the private sector, including leadership roles at Procter & Gamble, further enhances her expertise in science and operational excellence.
Her educational philosophy is based on her uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, and an encouraging community.
Venita is a proud mother of one daughter, a 2024 graduate of Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership Academy and a first-year student at the University of Texas at Austin.
